[Map] [Stieler, Adolf] von Stülpnagel, F.
Oestlische Halbkugel.
Entv. und gez. von F. von Stülpnagel 1832. Revidirt 1845. 36,5 x 44,5 cm. Hand coloured in outline. Engraving.
Some tears, creases and smudging to the margins.
A map of the eastern hemisphere. Western Australia is still named New Holland and many of the local names are dutch. Most of the interior of Africa is still unknown, no Victoria Lake and no great bend of the Congo river on the map. Only parts of the Antarctica ice edge is known. A fascinating snap shot of the world in the mid 19th century. Unclear if it was issued for the first or second edition of Stieler´s Hand-Atlas.
