Jacob Berzelius was a chemist and one of the founders of the modern chemistry. The original was executed by Johan Gustaf Sandberg (1752-1854), painter and professor at the Royal Academy of Arts. Johan Cardon lithographed the portrait. Along with Carl Johan Billmark, he was Sweden´s most eminent lithographer. In 1843 he received the title "Royal lihographer. The present portrait is from the finest of all 19th. century portrait galleries published in Sweden.
